Where to start

Set difficulty to Easy and chain length to 2. Press New Round — audio plays with a hidden chain of effects applied. Listen, then drag the effect modules into the chain slots in the order you think they appear. Press Submit to check.

Increase the chain length to identify more effects at once. Harder difficulties make each effect more subtle.

Effect order matters

Each stage feeds into the next, so order changes the sound — compressing before distortion differs from distorting before compressing. The signal flows left → right, from IN to OUT. Use Space/D to A/B between the target and your chain.

What each effect sounds like

EQ — changes tonal balance. Lowpass darkens; highpass thins and brightens.

Compressor — reduces dynamic range; the signal sounds more controlled, transients softened.

Reverb — adds space and a decaying tail.

Saturation — adds harmonic distortion; warmer, thicker, slightly gritty.
